hi
Alright. Where do I even begin though. (Laugh)
I made a blog so I could document creative things I've been doing or anything I've watched or played recently. Be very afraid.
I'm going to rant about whatever comes to mind from the past few weeks.
(CW for very mild sensitive topics, like mild NSFW, murder, and gore-esque topics including blood or mechanical or robotic exposure. There are also a few things implied in 2/3 of my very brief movie thoughts. It's not that gruesome, but just a heads up.)
#themusic
As everyone knows, I really love UTAU. I love singing, too. Truly. Really. I even got a site for mine. And a YouTube channel. But unfortunately, it seems I was entering a hypomanic episode for an estimated two to three weeks or possibly more which led me to take on way too many things. (Laughs again)
Besides one that's a little more secret and I plan to wrap up in September or October related to a certain purple thing, my most recent major as well as finished/mostly-finished music-related projects from the very start of those three weeks are the following (barring any WIPs for now so this blog post won't be that long):
Yaginuma Raku, my one and only artificial voicebank. It seems this... let's put this nicely, mentally maladjusted and scrambled salaryman was a year in the making before I got myself together (slightly).
(I actually covered a completely different song with him and had another previous voicebank that was not very understandable, but this is what I chose for the final upload to YouTube. For. Reasons.)
My Instinct by Sheena Ringo cover with MYK-IV followed. I do not really remember much other than this pink menace was a birthday gift to myself, but immediately I knew what I had to do.
Towa's voicebank was next. He's actually voiced by me this time, and I had a keen interest in going over (mostly) Sekka Yufu's samples to make a weird recording list for him. He's very cute. (Grips my knee.)
Next up, MONEKA's voicebank. She's a CV Japanese voicebank and a CV+C English ARPABET voicebank. I do have her design below before I show you the voicebank itself, but this is literally just a weird draft I had. I still need to finish it.
Here's the voicebank demo. Her concept was essentially "2000s and 90s moe anime girl with a focus on English phonics and vocabulary learning". Peep the alphabet themed motifs.
I also have SICKLY♡SERAPH, an oddball idol unit. All details are below (after you accept the warning) but it boils down to two runaway androids who are severely malfunctioned and can't... sing quite right. Do listen to the demos.
The final entry in the vsynth covers for today is Meri [chirp]'s rerecording. I tested out a slightly "older" song in English for some reason. That is totally my bad. She sounds great, though I think she's going to be released way, way later... due to another thing.
Finally, my undress me by Cö shu Nie cover! This was... strange... to work on. I had a test recording with my phone when I was on holiday in the Philippines, and I got the sudden urge to really, really go all in recently. And I did. I featured my character on the video, front and center, and brushed up on Davinci Resolve (and discovered some new stuff too...). I am really proud of this, despite the mistakes...
Ah, speaking of characters, actually—
bruh what is your issue actually
I love OCs! We all love OCs! Oh my God. I have so many. For this section though once more, I'll only be mentioning major OC projects that I actually planned out more heavily.
...Now, this sounds weird for a blog. But. I cannot go into detail for him as I am insecure about my writing for him in particular. But listen. I've been roleplaying through Discord with friends, notably my evil ass dentist above, Hiiro Mikami.
Very unfortunately, the fuller summary is also something I'm insecure about and will probably have to share at a later date, but it does boil down to "evil/unwell/seductive/anomalous ass dentist that moonlights as a vigilante, killing the equally anomalous presences in his town and the people they possess". You know, I'm pretty...
...normal! (Grits my teeth and forces a smile)
Other very important details are that he's in his late 40s, has shibari and some spider and eldritch theming on his characterization and alternate outfit, he loves medical malpractice, he is most definitely not a product of my love for fictional old men with moles/glasses/questionable behaviors/a significant dosage of sadomasochism/theming around death and obsession, and (slides a note card to the back) he is picky about his coffee.
There's also (points) yaoi, in the back, with my friend's character. Hello. I'm sorry. Please.
Actually, if it makes you feel at ease from all the weird stuff I just said, I can leave you with this for now:
I don't think this helped.
Another project that I'd like to hope is much more normal than this, is "An Outer Deity Forced Me, A Devil, and an Angel from Heaven to Become Idols to Save Our Bosses?!" (Working title. I'm. Working on it.) It is very self-explanatory, with a side of BLbait. I have a K-pop playlist for this. You should listen, maybe. Here's the art WIPs I've been doing.
finally, The Medias.
Unfortunately, due to a severe case of I Have A Special Interest And I Can't Stop, I have been very unable to actually watch a lot of things. However, here is what I recall from the 2-3 week timeframe, very briefly compared to the other sections:
I watched Pontypool with two friends. Now, this was a really interesting watch. While I wouldn't say that it tied up very neatly, I loved the kind of horror it presented involving an anomalous presence that spreads through spoken language. I'd highly recommend it if you like weirdly specific horror concepts.
I also rewatched Fight Club with 4 other people. This was really good to revisit. I am at a loss of words though for now in regards to its constant themes of aggressive masculinity, but the foreshadowing that I didn't notice on my first actual watch kept me on the edge of my seat trying to shut up about it. Also highly recommend. Please don't listen to what anyone else says about it, by the way.
"Its [sic] literally just American denpa BL with ryona themes"
Finally, I watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day with my sisters the day after I watched Fight Club. Well, it's your typical MCU fare, so not extremely exciting. But I did find the plot to be a little more interesting than previous entries and I was clutching my head sometimes, so maybe it's not too shabby.
outro. see you next time...?
Well, I think that's all. It's been a weird couple of weeks and hopefully, the next entries will be much shorter. Thanks for bearing with me!
